Firewood for People on the Move in Squats on the Bosnian-Croatian border
The Bosnian-Croatian border region continues to be a hotspot for the humanitarian and political catastrophe on the so-called Balkan route. As the state camp structures are located further inland, are often inadequately equipped and restrict the autonomy and mobility of People on the Move, the majority of people in the Velika Kladuša region live in so-called squats. These are inadequately supplied by state structures, which is why people are dependent on cooking stoves and firewood to provide for themselves.
Founded as an initiative by cultural workers in 2020, Blindspots quickly became Ost & Found e.V.’s largest project. Since September 2020, they have been permanently active with a team in the Velika Kladuša region and in June 2021, Blindspots was founded as its own association.
The :do Foundation supports Blindspots in the procurement of firewood for the people in the squats with 2,000 euros.
