JUGENDSTIL* - Participation and co-determination of young migrants in East Germany

JUGENDSTIL* supports and accompanies the social engagement of East German young people with their own or family history of migration.
As access to funding opportunities for young (post)migrant people is often full of hurdles or completely closed, JUGENDSTIL* initiated the IDEENFONDS in 2021. The JUGENDSTIL* Ideas Fund makes it easier for young people with a history of migration to access funding, supports their social engagement and makes them visible as active shapers of society in eastern Germany. With the Ideas Fund, we have developed a new, low-threshold and unbureaucratic funding instrument for young, post-migrant engagement in eastern Germany and offer support for young, flexible and dynamic forms of engagement. With micro-grants of up to €1,000, groups and initiatives can try out and implement their own projects in an uncomplicated and self-determined way.
The funding from the :do Foundation is to be used for the ideas fund and thus for specific project funding. With the Ideas Fund, we have been supporting (post-)migrant youth initiatives from eastern Germany every month since 2021 that create new opportunities for young people to shape their lives, gain formative experiences of self-efficacy and thus effectively strengthen social cohesion. The requested financial support will flow 100% into the projects of the young initiatives throughout Eastern Germany – with guaranteed content support from the project JUGENDSTIL*-Participation and co-determination of young migrants in Eastern Germany.
