Zeugen der Flucht Dresden

Start: December 2024

The target group of our work are pupils at schools in Saxony who are moving away from the democratic foundations of our society towards right-wing extremist spheres.

We are young people with and without refugee experience who came together in 2019 to form the Zeugen der Flucht Dresden association. Then as now, debates about refugees and migration are often characterized by prejudices, fears and generalized reporting.
We would like to offer a counterpoint to this with our association motto “Talking to each other instead of about each other”. Our aim is to create encounters between members of society who rarely interact in everyday life. We are talking about people with and without refugee experience. This usually takes place in 90-minute workshops, which we mainly hold in school classes.

Refugees have far too few opportunities to be heard. We create a space in which refugees can talk about their experiences during their flight, their arrival in Germany and life in their country of origin. In doing so, we want to break down prejudices against refugees. Through the direct exchange between people with and without refugee experience, prejudices can be challenged and social cohesion strengthened.

Every person has a story…
