Medical Volunteers International e.V.

Start: March 2024

Medical Volunteers International (MVI) has been providing medical, psychological and social support to refugees in Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria since 2016. “We help in places where refugees are living in extremely precarious conditions and the supply situation is particularly bad – currently very acutely on the Greek island of Kos.

The situation for the 2000 refugees on Kos is very dramatic. There is no possibility of medical care for the people on the streets and there is one nurse in the completely overcrowded camp. This is particularly critical as the hygienic conditions in the camp are extremely poor and even the food supply and access to clean drinking water are not guaranteed. We have been on site with a small team of volunteer doctors and nurses since March 2024.

The :do Foundation is funding the new mobile project on Kos to provide medical care for refugees for one month. This includes the purchase and storage of medicines and medical supplies and the rental of a car and an apartment for the team.
