Makerspace

Start: July 2024

The people at Makerspace Lesvos, most of them refugees themselves living in the camp, help repair and exchange phones, bikes and clothes of the people in the camp on Lesvos.
In workshops, they also teach each other how to make repairs.
This solves problems – and provides small joys.

At the Makerspace, people can come and apply their skills to repair and create things that they deem necessary in their own life.
They can participate in projects and workshops that we offer, such as repairing bicycles to increase mobility or repairing electronic devices to improve connectivity and recover lost data.

The main beneficiaries of our work are displaced people who live on the island of Lesvos.
Due to our close proximity to the refugee camp RIC Mavrovouni, aka Kara Tepe camp, the majority of our visitors come from this camp.
In addition we provide technical support to other organizations helping refugees on the island.

The :do foundation supports Makerspace Lesvos to buy new tools and material for the Makerspace and provide monthly support renumerations for volunteers.
