Glocal Roots has been operating on Kos since the end of 2020. Despite Kos being the second-largest entry point of all the Greek islands, we are the only grassroots organization operating outside the closed and controlled camp (CCAC) addressing basic needs.

Our project addresses the critical gaps in services for displaced people on Kos. Through The Hub, we provide residents of the CCAC with essential hygiene and clothing items. Once they receive international protection, we extend our support by supplying dry food products. Our Community Centre offers a safe space for people to spend time and connect with others. With a focus on supporting refugees to become self-reliant, we also provide assistance to obtain the necessary resources and skills to integrate into Greek society.

The :do foundation will fund Glocal Roots and its project The Hub to pursue and expand the support for refugees on Kos.
