No Name Kitchen
Begin: June 2024
No Name Kitchen (NNK) is a grassroots association oriented to support human beings on their right to move seeking a better future. We are present at multiple borders across the Balkans and Mediterranean migration routes, where volunteer-based teams provide humanitarian, psychological and legal support to the people on the move (PoM) who suffer long journeys and violent push-backs due to the lack of safe routes.
This project aims to support our activities in Northern Bosnia, where the number of PoM has increased notably in the last six months. While the Bosnian authorities keep forcibly expelling PoM from city centres and conducting evictions in the forest and makeshift camps, to relocate them in isolated camps —especially in Lipa camp, 26 km south from Bihac city, and controlled with an iron hand by the Service for Foreign Affairs— the majority of the PoM fend for themselves in squats and makeshift tents, with scarce access to food, clean water, healthcare and legal support.
Distribution of Protection Kits.
This project would allow NNK to have a solid stock of goods to distribute food and non-food essentials, including clothing, footwear, sleeping gear, shelters, backpacks, and blankets, ensuring refugees to have equitable access to resources in daily basis, while having emergency packs ready in our warehouse to attend rapidly people suffering violent pushbacks.
Hygiene on the Move
The inadequate shelter conditions and arduous journeys endured by refugees severely restrict their access to clean water for both consumption and personal hygiene.
The :do foundation decided to fund NoNameKitchen for the distribution of protection kits and to contribute to better hygiene conditions for people on the move.
