In 2015, people with a migration background from more than seven nations came together to initiate and found the association. The aim of the association’s work is, among other things, to solve their challenges together and to find a connection to the cultural context here in Germany, which is still unfamiliar to them. Long-standing migrants, who already know their way around, support the newcomers with their experience. But the most important thing, the core of our association’s work, is to promote understanding between the locals and the resettlers and people with a migration background from the very beginning.

Everything we do, we do together. Everyone can and should contribute their skills and thus help shape the further development of the association. People who come to us feel comfortable with us and are encouraged to join in. If necessary, translation (simultaneous or parallel) is organized during events. Various intercultural events and hands-on activities are organized to bring migrants and locals together. At the same time, we promote volunteer work.

Ongoing offers: German course, children’s music theater, dance courses (classical dance, show dance, children’s ballet), courses for Russian classical painting, open youth club, children’s choir, sports, acrobatics, baking, cooking, sewing, handicrafts.

www.mosaika-biw.de

Mosaic Start: December 2024 Mosaika e.V. is an important player in intercultural association work in Bischofswerda and now in the entire district of Bautzen.
