On the one hand, we seek to create a positive impact for people with asylum claims seeking asylum in terms of their well-being, empowerment and access to rights. At the same time,<br \/>we advocate for a more fair and just Greek and European asylum system, based on the voices of those with lived experience of that system.<\/p>\n<p><em>On Lesvos, we have four main activities that we use work towards this dual goal:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Legal Empowerment Sessions: we provide people with asylum claims with a safe space to learn about their procedure and rights.<\/li>\n<li>Human Rights Monitoring: together with people on the move, we document rights violations they face, to raise awareness, advocate for change, and seek accountability with the relevant authorities.<\/li>\n<li>Capacity Bridging: to encourage all NGO actors to work together with a rights-based approach, we offer trainings to their staff that help them understand the asylum procedure and their potential role in helping people access their rights.<\/li>\n<li>Support for LGBTQ+ refugees: we offer comprehensive support to people who were forced to flee because of who they love and who they are.  <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The :do foundation will fund Fenix Humanitarian Legal Aid to pay interpreters and to provide a living allowance to one of the volunteers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fenixaid.org\/\">https:\/\/www.fenixaid.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fenix Humanitarian Legal Aid Start: June 2024 Fenix Humanitarian Legal Aid is a grassroots organization that works with a dual mission.
